Longtime community players! Were you just unstable enough to guess that the Card of the Week was the Titan Master Lokos from Wave 6: World|Strike? If you did, you’re insane in the membrane!
Indeed, Lokos is a bit of a niche fellow; covering the neglected Plan keyword action first introduced in Wave 2, Lokos had no other Titan Master peers in that category… that is, until Org Wave 9: War|Void, which introduced the pair Autobot Rook and Crosswise.
Lokos also enjoys his share of community notoriety. An alternate-art reprint, “Prim Cola Fizzy Big Head” Lokos, was offered as a free April Fool’s 2022 promo through an online giveaway. Poking fun at a prominent fan release at the time, which included a Titan Master with a far-too-big head, Lokos created just as many laughs in the community as he did other, more dramatic reactions.
But despite his less-than-mainstream appeal, you’d be perfectly uncrazed deploying him in very targeted scenarios. For example, Mining Pick and Overwhelming Advantage decks! And why play each of those decks separately when you can play them at the same time?
The “Crab Copter” deck might inspire crustacean jokes from your opponent, but it’s their Crab Louie that’s getting cooked. Lokos keeps Plan available throughout the game, giving a skilled pilot plenty of ways to arrange the next few cards exactly where they need to be. That can feed Obsidian’s tricks, set up Mining Pick attacks, and help prepare the icons and effects you want to see in battle. Grindor can interfere with opposing battle flips while defending, Crashbash moves damage around on attack, and Overwhelming Advantage provides the deck’s biggest payoff.
And, new as of the latest Tabletop Simulator Table build, you can play “Crab Copter” immediately on Tabletop Simulator! Just grab the deck from the Card of the Week deck box and start flipping.
Did Lokos go directly into your collection folder? Or did Lokos surprise your opponents in the days following the release of World|Strike?
Next week’s Card is something special among the cards of War|Void. We hope the community will join us in remembering someone whose voice meant a great deal to generations of Transformers fans.
