Returning to the Transformers TCG

Played the Transformers TCG before, whether during its official run or at some point in the post-cancellation era, and stepped away? Welcome back. Here’s what’s changed and how to get back in.

Where Should I Start?

If you still have your original cards, you don’t need to rebuild your collection from scratch. A good path back in:

1. Skim What’s Changed below, especially the Waves released after you stepped away.
2. Check the Jumpstarter Update Booster for current versions of cards you already own.
3. Review the current Rules and Ban List before rebuilding a deck.
4. Explore the new Factions and pick a Format.
5. Download anything you’re missing through Downloads.
6. Find a game through Events, our Tabletop Simulator table, or the Discord community.

What’s Changed

New Waves and Releases

The official game from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast ended after Wave 5: Titan Masters Attack in 2020, but players continued developing and supporting the game.

Since then, four more numbered Waves have been added: Wave 6: World|Strike, Org Wave 7: Monster Menagerie, Wave 8: Waste|Lands, and the current main release, Org Wave 9: War|Void, in Public Beta. Org Wave 10: Wild|Fury has also been announced and is in early development.

Supplemental products have expanded the game alongside the numbered Waves, including the Jumpstarter Update Booster, Goodies Starter Decks, TFcon Packs, Versus Sets, and promotional releases.

New Factions

The faction landscape has expanded too. Quintessons, Junkions, and Unicron have become playable factions since official development ended, and Maximals and Predacons are announced for Org Wave 10: Wild|Fury. Updated Cards and the Jumpstarter Update Booster

Some older cards have been replaced or updated as the game continued. The Jumpstarter Update Booster is the single, continuing home for those changes: rather than tracking replacements across several Waves, you check one release, and new updates are added there as they become necessary.

If you’re returning with an older collection, Jumpstarter is the first place to look for current versions of cards you already own.

Rules and Rulings

Rules have also changed since 2020 in a few specific ways. See What rules changed after the official game ended? for a summary.

The complete current rules are available on Rules. Card-specific rulings, including the original Wizards of the Coast FAQ and rulings from the Aequitas Committee, a community rules body active after official development ended, are available on Rulings.

You should also check the Ban List before bringing an older deck into current play.

Formats

The game now supports several ways to play, from the primary Full Constructed environment to casual and specialized formats. See Formats if you’re unsure which one to jump back into.

Returning From Another Fan Project?

Several independent fan projects developed their own cards, formats, rules interpretations, and organized-play environments after official support ended. If you previously played in one of these environments, we have dedicated guides explaining what has changed and how to transition into current transformerstcg.org play.

Some cards, rulings, and formats used by these fan projects may differ from the versions supported by transformerstcg.org. In particular, independently modified versions of community releases such as World|Strike and Waste|Lands may appear in other databases or formats.

For transformerstcg.org play, use the versions published through our Releases, Rules, and Ban List pages.

Where to Play

• Join the transformerstcg.org Discord community to find games, ask questions, and meet other players.
• Play online through our Tabletop Simulator table, which includes official-era cards, supported community releases, and a selection of historical fan material.
• See our Events page for in-person and online organized play.

New and returning players are a priority for transformerstcg.org, and you do not need experience with the post-cancellation game to join current events or online play.

Getting Cards

Professionally printed community cards are available through our Donation Storefront, as well as through conventions, local events, giveaways, and other organized-play opportunities.

Every transformerstcg.org community release, including the Jumpstarter Update Booster covered above, also remains free to download and print through our Downloads page.
